Make Opinion GmbH, Elfenallee 5, 13127 Berlin, Germany ("we") is the data controller for NiceSurveys. This policy explains what we process and why.
Data we process
- Account data: email, language, country and currency (set once from the country of your sign-up IP address), sign-up date, IP address and device/user-agent
- Access log (fraud prevention): when you sign in from a new IP address or device we store the IP address, the country, city and whether it is a proxy/VPN (from proxycheck.io), your device time zone and language, whether you use the website or the app (and its version) and device details derived from the user agent (from userstack). Changes of the site language are logged too
- Profile data you enter to be matched with surveys: birthday, gender, postal code, languages and further optional answers
- Survey activity: surveys shown, started and completed, rewards, reversals
- Payout data: chosen reward, amount, delivery status; the reward itself is delivered by Tremendous
- App data (when using our mobile app): push token, device identifiers, network type, advertising/tracking status and, only with your permission, location
- Support data: tickets, messages and screenshots you send us
- Usage data: pages you visit and buttons you use on NiceSurveys, the campaign or website that brought you here (e.g. utm parameters, referring site), device type and platform. IP address and user agent are only stored as daily-rotating hashes
Why we process it
- To run your account and pay you (contract)
- To match you with suitable surveys and reduce screen-outs (contract / legitimate interest)
- To prevent fraud and duplicate accounts (legitimate interest)
- To send you push notifications and emails you opted into (consent)
- To understand how NiceSurveys is used and improve it, and to measure which campaigns bring new members (consent for the analytics cookie; otherwise legitimate interest for cookie-less, daily-anonymised measurement)
Partners
- CPX Research (MakeOpinion GmbH, Germany) – survey marketplace. Your user ID, IP, user agent and profile parameters are shared to match surveys.
- Tremendous Inc. (USA) – reward delivery; receives your name, email and reward amount.
- proxycheck.io (Proxycheck Ltd., UK) – receives your IP address to determine its country and whether it is a proxy/VPN.
- userstack (apilayer GmbH, Austria) – receives your browser user agent to identify device type, operating system and browser.
- SendGrid (Twilio) – transactional email.
- Wasabi – encrypted storage of support attachments.
- Google / Apple – optional sign-in.
- AppsFlyer Ltd. (Israel) – in our mobile apps only: measures which ad campaigns lead to app installs and to milestones in the app (sign-up, first survey started, number of completed surveys). Receives the app's AppsFlyer ID, the advertising ID where your device allows it, these events and your member ID.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account exists. Ledger and payout records are kept for 10 years for accounting. Deleted accounts are anonymised.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing and complain to your supervisory authority. Write to [email protected].
Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies: session (ns_session), language (ns_locale), your cookie choice (ns_consent) and your device time zone and language (ns_tz, ns_dl; used for survey matching and fraud prevention).
Campaign cookie: the campaign link or website that brought you to NiceSurveys (ns_attr, 15 days), e.g. utm parameters or an ad click ID, so that a sign-up within 15 days is credited to that campaign. It is first-party, holds no personal data and is never shared with advertisers.
Analytics cookie, only if you click Accept: an anonymous visitor ID (ns_aid, 12 months). It is first-party, never shared with advertisers and used only for our own statistics. If you decline, we measure without cookies: visits are grouped by a hash of IP address and browser that changes every day and cannot be linked across days.
You can change your choice at any time under Settings → Cookie preferences. No advertising cookies are set on the website.
